Lucknow, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : BJP Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal has strongly rebuked Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for his claims regarding the development of the Buddhist circuit, which includes significant sites like Sarnath and Kushinagar. Brijlal accused Yadav’s government of focusing solely on the development of Saifai, while asserting that the current BJP administration is dedicated to enhancing Buddhist sites and the five pilgrimage locations associated with Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
In a recent statement, Brijlal remarked, “The Akhilesh Yadav government has shown that they are only interested in the development of Saifai. Our government has established an international airport and is actively working on the development of Sarnath.”
Brijlal continued, “I wrote to the Prime Minister, and due to his international influence, the auction of Buddha relics did not take place. When you visit Delhi, you can see the magnificent tourist site at Rai Pithora Fort, where Buddha’s relics are displayed, alongside artifacts unearthed during excavations in 1972. This government is focused on the Buddhist circuit, unlike during your tenure when a statue of Buddha was vandalized right here in Lucknow.”
He accused Yadav of disrespecting both Buddha and Ambedkar, stating, “During your time, there was open disrespect for Buddha. Our Baba Saheb adopted Buddha’s teachings, and many Dalits embraced Buddhism. You even discarded the plaque at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Green Garden in Lucknow, replacing it with Janeshwar Mishra Park. The BJP has created pilgrimage sites in Ambedkar’s name, while you never considered such initiatives.”
Brijlal asserted that Yadav fabricates narratives, claiming, “You have been the one to discredit both Buddha and Ambedkar. You removed Dr. Ambedkar’s name from the Kannauj Medical College and altered the names of sites dedicated to Dalit saints. Now, you present a false narrative of development, but real progress is happening under our leadership.”
Addressing Yadav’s comments regarding the Saharanpur mosque controversy, Brijlal accused him of polarizing the community. He recalled statements made by Yadav’s uncle in Parliament about the Babri Masjid and the violence that ensued under their administration. “During your rule, riots were rampant. In Shamli and Muzaffarnagar, violence erupted, and your forces failed to control the situation, necessitating military intervention.”
Brijlal concluded by reminding Yadav of the violence during his father’s tenure, emphasizing, “Your administration was marked by riots. Today, Uttar Pradesh enjoys peace, and you should refrain from discussing polarization.”
