Kolkata, August 11: Abhijit Das, the petitioner who filed an FIR against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, has labeled him a ‘psycho’ and claimed that he could issue a murder order even while abroad. This accusation comes after the Calcutta High Court granted interim protection to Banerjee against strict police action in three additional cases filed by West Bengal police.
The police have registered a total of 16 cases against the TMC MP, of which he has already received interim protection in 13 cases.
Das, a BJP member from Diamond Harbour, stated, “I am well aware of the atrocities committed during the TMC regime. I have been attacked three to four times, resulting in significant injuries, including the insertion of a metal plate in my leg. All of this happened on his (Abhishek’s) orders.”
He added, “During the hearing, my lawyer expressed concerns for my safety, which is why we requested protection.” Das mentioned that he had filed 17 complaints against the Diamond Harbour MP, with FIRs registered based on 10 to 12 of those complaints.
He recounted an incident from December 2018 when he was attacked while serving as the district president of the BJP. “When I tried to file an FIR, it was not registered. What was I supposed to do? If I have faced such atrocities, one can only imagine what the public has endured.”
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to allow Abhishek Banerjee to travel abroad for three weeks for eye treatment, Das asserted, “Given how dangerous Abhishek is, I believe he is a psychopath, and it is possible he could order my murder from abroad.”
Despite the threats, Das stated he is not afraid. He claimed, “Abhishek thinks I am his only enemy, which is why he might act this way.”
Additionally, Das alleged that his CISF protection was removed after he filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court. He concluded, “Now my life is in danger. The police must fulfill their duty to protect me.”
