Mumbai, March 30: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lodged a complaint against Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane at the Malwani police station, demanding legal action. In a letter addressed to the inspector, the party highlighted a speech that allegedly aimed to incite hostility between religious groups.
The AAP stated that Rane delivered this speech on March 26 near Police Chowk Gate Number Seven in Malwani. They described his remarks as hate speech directed at a minority community, suggesting it could provoke violence. The complaint asserts that Rane’s speech constitutes a serious offense under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and warrants punishment under the law. The party is calling for immediate action.
Nitesh Rane serves as the Minister of Fisheries in the Maharashtra government. He has emerged as a young, aggressive leader with a Hindutva image in the state’s political landscape. His family has been active in Maharashtra politics for a long time, and he often finds himself in the spotlight due to his statements, which frequently draw criticism from the opposition.
On March 24, Rane announced a ban on illegal fishing using LED technology in the Konkan region. He declared a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy to protect traditional fishermen and marine resources. Responding to a discussion in the assembly, Rane emphasized that the state government is fully committed to halting illegal fishing practices and will not yield to pressure from neighboring states like Gujarat or Goa.
