New Delhi, August 26: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to India’s President Droupadi Murmu for her congratulatory message on Ukraine’s 35th Independence Anniversary. He emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with India.
Zelensky took to the social media platform X to share his appreciation, stating, “I am pleased that President Droupadi Murmu sent best wishes to the people of Ukraine. Thank you for your wishes for peace. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, the greatest dream of millions of Ukrainians is to end the war with Russia in a dignified manner. It is essential for the entire world to help pave the way forward in this direction.”
He reiterated Ukraine’s dedication to advancing dialogue and cooperation with India.
In his post, Zelensky also shared details about the events commemorating Ukraine’s 35th Independence Anniversary. He honored soldiers and civilians with state honors, presenting awards to the families of those honored posthumously. Additionally, military units received battle flags and ribbons for “Courage and Valor.”
Among those awarded posthumously were Junior Lieutenant Nazari Grintsevich, head of the “Platform” search organization Oleksiy Yukov, and school student Stepan Chubienko, who were killed by Russian fighters.
Zelensky also recognized shooting champion Olena Kostevich, Bishop Vitaliy Krivitsky, CEO of “Superhumans” Olga Rudneva, artist Anatoliy Krivolap, and singer Zlata Ognevich.
He expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone contributing to ensuring Ukraine not only maintains its freedom but also strengthens it. “Thank you for standing with Ukraine and giving your country a reason to be proud of you,” he said.
Zelensky urged everyone to remember those who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine, stating, “They gave their lives so that Ukraine could survive.”
