Amsterdam, June 3: Yuvraj Sandhu will be the only Indian participant at the KLM Open this week. After securing a Category 17 card on the DP World Tour, the 29-year-old golfer has faced a challenging first season. He earned this card by finishing at the top of the DP World PGTI Order of Merit last year.
So far in 2026, Sandhu has made the cut in only three out of ten tournaments. He stated that he has learned a lot from this season. In his only match with Hotel Planner, which was the DP World PGTI Open, he finished tied for sixth place.
Despite the challenges, Sandhu remains optimistic about his performance this week. In the first round, he will be paired with Spain’s Sebastian Garcia and Austria’s Max Steinlechner. Weather conditions are expected to play a significant role, as forecasts predict a challenging week for the players.
The tournament features some of the best players on the DP World Tour, including K.C. Jarvis, Jaden Shaper, Andy Sullivan, Richard Sterne, Daniel Hillier, and Eugenio Chacarra.
According to the OWGR rankings, K.C. Jarvis and Jaden Shaper are the top-ranked players on the DP World Tour, both within the top 100. With Patrick Reed, the leader of the Race to Dubai, opting not to play this week and Rory McIlroy participating in the PGA Tour, Shaper is now the highest-ranked player on the Race to Dubai leaderboard, followed closely by Jarvis.
Local Dutch player Joost Luiten is among those expected to contend for the trophy. The previous winner, Luiten, is one of only five Dutch players to win the KLM Open since 1912. He claimed the title on his home turf in 2013 and 2016, which means he can expect strong support from local fans.
Connor Syme has fully recovered from his injury and is ready to defend his title at the KLM Open. This season, Syme has struggled with his form after sustaining a back injury during home weight training, which forced him to withdraw from the Volvo China Open. He has reported that he can now play his shots freely.
