YSR Congress Condemns Brutal Attack on Former Municipal Vice President, Calls it a Sign of Deteriorating Law and Order

Amaravati, May 4: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has strongly condemned the brutal attack on Dasaratha Ramireddy, the former vice president of the Rayachoti Municipality. The party described this incident as a clear example of the deteriorating law and order situation and rising political violence in Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP’s state general secretary, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, stated that the attack, allegedly carried out by supporters of Minister Ram Prasad Reddy using lethal weapons, is both barbaric and undemocratic. He noted that since the coalition government took power, attacks on opposition leaders and activists have surged.

Reddy accused the government of misusing the police force to suppress dissent instead of addressing public issues. He claimed that constitutional governance has been replaced by a ‘Red Book’ regime, where false cases are filed, and organized attacks are made on marginalized groups, party workers, and those questioning the government.

The term ‘Red Book’ refers to a book carried by TDP leader Nara Lokesh during his election campaign, which allegedly contained the names of individuals who harassed TDP workers under YSRCP rule, promising that they would face justice.

YSRCP leader P.V. Mithun Reddy highlighted that the attack occurred in the presence of police, exposing their failure and alleged complicity. Dasaratha Ramireddy had previously reported threats to CI and DSP officials regarding repeated attacks on his function hall, but no preventive measures were taken. As a result, he is now fighting for his life with serious injuries.

Reddy expressed frustration that, despite clear video evidence, no cases have been filed against the assailants. He demanded immediate registration of an attempted murder case and stringent legal action.

He pointed out that while the police swiftly file multiple cases against YSRCP’s social media workers, they remain inactive when supporters of the ruling party commit violent acts in broad daylight.

The YSR Congress warned that if such inaction continues, public trust in the police system will erode, further encouraging violence. The party has called for immediate action from the administration to restore law and order and ensure justice.
