
Lucknow, May 29: A shooting incident occurred late last night in the Hazratganj area during an argument over alcohol consumption. One young man was injured in the incident. Police arrived promptly and transported the victim to the hospital, while detaining two suspects for questioning.
According to police reports, around 1 AM on Thursday night, authorities received a call about a shooting near the BJP office in the Darulsafa area, behind the Sulabh Complex. Upon arrival, officers found that 41-year-old Vibhushukla, son of the late Rakesh Kumar Shukla, had sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
The injured man was immediately taken to the civil hospital, where he was later referred to the trauma center. Doctors confirmed that the bullet had struck his thigh, but he is currently out of danger and receiving treatment.
Initial police inquiries revealed that Vibhushukla was drinking alcohol behind the Sulabh toilet with his companion, 28-year-old Mohammad Shafiq, when a dispute broke out between them, leading to the shooting.
Police collected evidence from the scene and detained both individuals. The Hazratganj police superintendent stated that investigations are ongoing to determine who possessed the firearm and who fired the shot. Legal action is being pursued.
Hazratganj is considered a busy and sensitive area in Lucknow. This incident has sparked outrage among local residents. Many nearby residents report that young men frequently gather in the area at night to consume alcohol, raising concerns about safety.
In response, police have increased patrols in the area and have begun reviewing CCTV footage. Authorities believe the incident is related to alcohol and personal disputes, but a final conclusion will be drawn after a thorough investigation.
