Police Crack Down on Public Drinking in Noida: Over 350 Arrested

Noida, June 24: The Gautam Buddha Nagar police have launched a stringent campaign against public drinking, aimed at maintaining law and order. This operation has been ongoing across all three police zones: Noida, Central Noida, and Greater Noida. Late-night actions led to legal proceedings against more than 350 individuals for consuming alcohol in public spaces, causing disturbances, and violating regulations.

According to police officials, this initiative is crucial for ensuring a safe environment for citizens. Public drinking often escalates into disputes, fights, and other criminal activities. To address this, the police have conducted extensive checks in markets, malls, parks, main roads, public areas, and sensitive zones.

Under the direction of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh and the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajiv Narayan Mishra, this special operation has been effectively implemented. Police teams led by DCP Noida Saad Miah Khan, DCP Central Noida Shailendra Kumar Singh, and DCP Greater Noida Ravi Shankar Nimm have been actively patrolling and conducting inspections in various areas.

During the operation, the Noida zone police took action against 126 individuals for drinking in public. The Central Noida zone reported the highest number of arrests, with 179 people apprehended. Additionally, the Greater Noida zone police acted against 64 individuals. In total, legal action was initiated against 369 individuals under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police officials have reiterated that consuming alcohol in public is a legal offense that disrupts public peace and causes inconvenience to citizens. The campaign against such behavior will continue, and the police urge citizens to adhere to the law and avoid any form of disorder or disturbance in public spaces.
