Kolkata, April 12: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during his election rally in West Bengal on Sunday. Speaking at his third rally in the Kanthi Dakshin assembly constituency, he criticized the Kolkata mayor’s claim that half the population would speak Urdu, asserting that the people of Bengal will speak Bengali. He emphasized that the culture of extremism will not be tolerated, stating, “No one can play with the pride and dignity of Bengal.”
Adityanath expressed that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the entire nation stands with the people of Bengal. He vowed that the TMC’s treasonous intentions will not succeed. He compared the BJP’s governance in Uttar Pradesh, which has eliminated chaos and riots, to what they aim to achieve in Bengal. “Bengal is the land of Vande Mataram. This land does not yield to storms,” he declared, paying tribute to national leaders like Rabindranath Tagore, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He noted that PM Modi has realized Mukherjee’s dream of one nation, one constitution, allowing the youth of Bengal to purchase property in Kashmir.
The Chief Minister criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming she harbors animosity towards the name of Ram. He accused her of obstructing Ram Navami processions and disrupting Durga Puja celebrations. He also alleged that she permits cow slaughter during Eid and facilitates the infiltration of Bangladeshi immigrants. “The BJP government will not tolerate this,” he stated, affirming that worship of Goddess Kali and Ganga will continue in India, and every citizen of Bengal will chant ‘Jai Shree Ram.’
Adityanath lamented that Bengal, once the growth engine of India’s economy, has been reduced to poverty by the Congress, the Left, and the TMC over the past 15 years. He claimed that aid during cyclones and funds meant for the poor are siphoned off by TMC goons, while false promises are made to fishermen and farmers. “There is no development, only a system of extortion,” he said, highlighting the decline of Bengal, which was once a hub of education, culture, and entrepreneurship.
He described the TMC as synonymous with appeasement, mafia rule, and corruption. Adityanath asserted that the BJP government can effectively combat terrorism and corruption. He recalled that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was plagued by riots and chaos, but since the BJP took power, peace has been restored. He emphasized that the bulldozer, a symbol of the BJP’s crackdown on crime, not only builds roads but also dismantles the power of those who threaten the dignity of women.
The Chief Minister noted that in Uttar Pradesh, prayers are no longer held on the streets, and there is no noise from mosques. He stated that cow slaughter is banned, and there is no love jihad or land jihad. “Uttar Pradesh is the land of Ram Rajya,” he declared, highlighting the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, despite opposition from the Congress, TMC, and other parties.
Adityanath warned that the TMC has put Bengal’s identity at risk. He accused the TMC of misappropriating funds intended for housing, rations, health, and rural development. He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh now has 40,000 large industries and 9.6 million MSME units, creating millions of jobs. He challenged the TMC to reveal how many jobs they have created in 15 years, noting the exodus of industries from Bengal.
He lamented that Bengal, once known as India’s cultural capital, is now recognized as a crime capital due to TMC’s misgovernance. He accused the TMC of jeopardizing national security and attempting to alter the demographic landscape. Despite the central government’s funding for 570 kilometers of fencing along the Bangladesh border, he claimed the TMC is obstructing clearance to facilitate illegal immigration.
Adityanath concluded by urging the people of Bengal to reclaim their identity and restore the state to its former glory. He invoked the legacy of leaders like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Rabindranath Tagore, expressing concern for Bengal’s future. He emphasized that this election presents an opportunity for the people to prevent demographic changes and promised to replicate Uttar Pradesh’s success in combating crime in Bengal.
