Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes Fourth Player to Reach 4,000 T20 Runs in Fewest Innings

New Delhi, May 17: Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has reached the milestone of 4,000 runs in T20 cricket. The 24-year-old accomplished this feat in just 129 innings, making him the fourth player to achieve this in the fewest innings.

The left-handed batsman completed his 4,000 runs during the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium. He hit a boundary off Mitchell Starc on the second ball of the match, equaling the record set by Shubman Gill, who also reached this milestone in 129 innings.

In terms of the fewest innings to reach 4,000 runs in T20 cricket, Ruturaj Gaikwad holds the top spot, achieving this in just 116 innings. KL Rahul follows in second place with 117 innings, while Tilak Varma is third with 125 innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in the 2020/21 season and has remained with the same team since. In IPL 2023, he scored 625 runs at an average of 48.07 across 14 matches. In IPL 2025, he accumulated 559 runs at an average of 43.

Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals fielded a team including Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryawanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravi Singh, Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Adam Milne, Brijesh Sharma, and Yash Raj Poonja.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals featured KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Abhishek Porel, Sahil Parakh, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel (captain), Madhav Tiwari, Tripurana Vijay, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Starc, and Mukesh Kumar in this match.

Currently, Rajasthan Royals sit fifth in the standings with six wins from 11 matches, aiming to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have lost seven out of 12 matches and are nearly out of the title race, positioned eighth.
