
Beijing, June 16: Chinese President Xi Jinping held discussions on Tuesday morning with Myanmar’s President Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Beijing.
Xi emphasized the deep brotherly friendship between China and Myanmar. He stated that developing relations with Myanmar is a key aspect of China’s neighboring diplomacy. China adheres to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations. He expressed support for Myanmar’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and backed the new government’s efforts to achieve a balanced approach to security and development, ensuring public support for a sustainable development path.
Xi highlighted that China is a reliable friend and partner of Myanmar. He urged both sides to maintain strategic stability and strengthen unity and coordination. The China-Myanmar Economic Corridor is a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative. He stressed the importance of advancing key projects while ensuring security.
Min Aung Hlaing remarked on the long-standing brotherly friendship between Myanmar and China. He noted that both countries are entering a new phase of building a community with a shared future, supporting each other through challenges. Myanmar appreciates China’s long-term selfless assistance towards its development, stability, peace, and reconciliation. He expressed eagerness to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with China, co-develop the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and enhance trade and investment levels.
Following the talks, both leaders witnessed the signing of several cooperation documents in areas such as transportation and public welfare.
