Chandigarh, April 15: Women in Chandigarh are expressing their pride and optimism regarding the recently passed Women Reservation Bill. Promila, an NGO director, stated in an interview that this legislation will significantly benefit women, providing them equal opportunities in politics. “I believe in 50% reservation, but we are happy with the 33% that has been granted,” she added, emphasizing the importance of this step for women’s representation.
Educator Rakhi Bala Subramaniam echoed similar sentiments, noting that Prime Minister Modi’s initiative to allocate 33% reservation for women is a positive move towards empowerment. “This will encourage women who have been confined to their homes to step out and prove themselves,” she remarked. The implementation of this act is expected to enhance women’s self-respect and provide them with more opportunities, which is a matter of national pride.
Production manager Priya Paswan highlighted that the bill had been pending for a long time and is now being introduced under strong leadership. “This bill is a gift for all women. It will empower them and ensure they have the right to voice their opinions,” she stated.
In related news, Baltej Singh Pannu, media in-charge and senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, commented on the recent ED raids on Ashok Mittal’s properties. He accused the BJP of preparing for the upcoming Punjab elections, claiming that agencies like the ED and CBI are often deployed in election-related activities. “The people of Punjab are not afraid of such tactics,” he asserted.
