Kolkata, July 22: A woman’s body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in a hotel room in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas. Authorities have arrested her boyfriend in connection with her unusual death.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Reena Ram, a resident of Patuli Shibtala in North 24 Parganas. She had checked into the hotel three days prior. Her body was found in room number 101 on Tuesday.
Hotel staff reported that Reena frequently stayed at the establishment, usually accompanied by a young man. According to police sources, Reena was married but had not been in contact with her husband for a long time. She had been involved with a local man who was ten years her junior.
On July 18, the couple checked into the hotel together, but the man left the same day. Reena remained alone for the next two days. Her family was aware of her relationship and alleged that there had been recent disputes between the two. They have accused her boyfriend of being responsible for her death and filed a complaint.
Based on this information, police arrested the suspect and have begun questioning him. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law.
A hotel employee mentioned that attempts to contact the man who had stayed with Reena were unsuccessful, raising suspicions. Concerned staff alerted the police, who forced entry into the room and discovered Reena’s body.
