New Delhi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Police in East Delhi’s Anand Vihar area have arrested a 27-year-old woman named Reshma in connection with a mobile phone theft investigation. Authorities recovered 43 stolen mobile phones during the operation, which was prompted by a complaint filed on October 8 under Section 303(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The investigation began when police received a tip-off indicating that Reshma possessed the stolen phones and had hidden additional stolen devices in her home. Acting on this information, a special team was formed under the direction of senior officers, led by Inspector Manish Kumar, the Station House Officer of Anand Vihar.
Upon raiding Reshma’s residence in JJ Camp, police discovered the phones despite her initial denial of ownership. She was unable to provide any documentation to prove the legitimate purchase or ownership of the devices. Consequently, all recovered phones were seized, and an investigation was initiated.
During preliminary questioning, Reshma revealed that she had been involved in mobile thefts at Anand Vihar bus terminal and railway station alongside her husband, Mohammad Taufiq, her brother Aslam, and others. She admitted that the stolen phones were sent to West Bengal via buses and trains for resale.
Police are now analyzing the call detail records (CDR) of the seized mobile phones to identify their rightful owners and to investigate any links to other theft cases. Efforts are also underway to uncover Reshma’s network, co-conspirators, and others involved in the trade of stolen mobile phones.
According to the Shahdara district police, the swift action and coordinated efforts led to the recovery of the stolen devices and the arrest of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
