New Delhi, July 30: BJP leaders staged a protest in the national capital, demanding the resignation of Punjab’s Education Minister amid ongoing paper leak scandals in the state.
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra stated, “The Kejriwal government in Punjab is not spearheading an education revolution; it is leading a paper leak revolution. First, the English exam for 12th-grade students was leaked, followed by the leak of the Punjab State Selection Board’s pharmacist exam. While Kejriwal protests in Delhi, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned to maintain peace in the country and Delhi. Yet, the question remains: why hasn’t the Punjab Education Minister resigned?”
BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia noted, “In 2024, an amendment to this bill was proposed in the Lok Sabha. The opposition requested changes but has remained silent on this issue. The government has proposed strict penalties to curb paper leaks, increasing both fines and jail time. However, Rahul Gandhi has not uttered a word about it. The opposition has not even discussed the bill.”
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj added, “The pharmacist recruitment exam paper was also leaked in Punjab. Yet, the Aam Aadmi Party is displaying a double standard. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government introduced strict laws to amend the anti-paper leak law, increasing penalties and ensuring expedited hearings, they chose to disrupt the proceedings instead of supporting them.”
BJP MP Kamaljeet Sahrawat remarked, “The Aam Aadmi Party has been in power in Punjab since 2022. In the past four years, there have been over six incidents of paper tampering or leaks. Students are extremely distressed, but the government refuses to take responsibility, claiming nothing has happened.”
BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal stated, “Arvind Kejriwal adopts a double standard in politics. Paper leaks occur every year in Punjab. There is even a video from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in 2023 where he acknowledged that a paper leak had occurred and action was being taken. Therefore, the education minister should also resign. Today, our youth wing activists are demanding that if Arvind Kejriwal truly stands with the youth, as he claims during national discussions, he should also voice concerns for the youth of Punjab.”
Delhi BJP General Secretary Yogita Singh questioned, “When Arvind Kejriwal was in the Delhi government, he was involved in numerous scams. His education minister has even been jailed. Today, I want to ask Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann why he is playing with the future of the youth there. This is a matter concerning the future of Punjab’s youth. We stand with them.”
