Newtown, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Minister Dilip Ghosh addressed several key issues in Newtown on September 16, highlighting the West Bengal government’s efforts to combat the theft of natural resources. He revealed that measures taken to stop the illegal extraction of coal, sand, and timber have led to a significant 33% increase in the state’s revenue.
Ghosh explained that for years, these resources were being plundered, resulting in a loss of revenue for the state. The government’s crackdown on illegal mining and smuggling has directly benefited the state’s finances.
On the topic of the 0.4% UPI charge on transactions exceeding ₹2,000, Ghosh stated, “Any service provider charges a fee. The government’s UPI service has offered great convenience, and a minimal fee is necessary to maintain system discipline and generate revenue.” He emphasized that while UPI has made transactions easier for the public, a small charge is essential for its upkeep.
Criticizing the Congress party, Ghosh remarked, “The Congress has given nothing to the people, only looted them. If the public feels it is too much, they will protest. They interfere in everything, even questioning what foreign guests are served at BRICS meetings, asking why beef or chicken is not on the menu. From Rahul Gandhi to Chidambaram, they all seem troubled. However, those who actually enjoyed the meal praised Indian cuisine and left satisfied. Congress needs to change its mindset.”
