West Bengal Minister Criticizes Opposition Protests as Political Drama
West Bengals Dilip Ghosh defends the governments actions, calling opposition protests political theatrics amid public support for PM Modi.

Kolkata, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata’s Panchayat Minister, Dilip Ghosh, has sharply criticized ongoing protests led by the opposition against the Special Investigation Report (SIR) and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He labeled these demonstrations as mere political theatrics, asserting that the public remains satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance.
Speaking to the media, Ghosh emphasized the right to protest in a democratic nation. However, he condemned the manner in which the opposition is allegedly trying to incite chaos and mislead the public. “People are indeed expressing their views and protesting,” he noted, “but the way these movements are unfolding is not in anyone’s interest.”
Ghosh pointed out the absurdity of some protest tactics, mentioning individuals engaging in dramatic acts such as lying on the streets or climbing trees—actions he deemed unproductive. “People are happy with PM Modi’s work,” he stated. “Under his leadership, substantial progress is being made. If some refuse to acknowledge this, it does not matter.”
He further clarified that the central government operates within constitutional boundaries, with all decisions being made through judicial processes. Ghosh criticized the opposition for resorting to protests after electoral defeats, suggesting that such actions have become a habitual response. “Governments come and go, but democracy continues to thrive. Those who lose elections will always find an issue to rally around and protest,” he added.
The minister concluded by reiterating that the public is content with the development initiatives under Modi’s leadership, asserting that opposition theatrics will have no impact on the people’s perception.
