Noida, April 2: The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to change once again. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and rain are expected on April 4 in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and across the entire NCR. Winds may reach speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay alert.
On April 2, the maximum temperature is forecasted to reach 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 19 degrees. The weather will be partly cloudy. On April 3, temperatures are expected to drop slightly, with a maximum of 33 degrees and a minimum of 21 degrees. The same temperatures are anticipated for April 4, but with a warning for thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon and evening.
The weather pattern is expected to persist on April 5, with temperatures around 33/18 degrees and continued chances of rain with thunder. A further drop in temperature to 33/17 degrees may be recorded on April 6.
This shift in weather is also impacting air quality. Areas in Delhi and Noida are currently experiencing moderate to poor Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, which is an improvement compared to previous readings. For instance, in Noida, the AQI is recorded at 129 in Sector 62, 161 in Sector 125, 182 in Sector 1, and 177 in Sector 116. In Delhi, AQI levels range from 123 to 249, with Anand Vihar at 230 and Chandni Chowk at 249, both falling into the poor category.
However, the situation in Greater Noida remains concerning. In Knowledge Park-3, the AQI is recorded at 199, while Knowledge Park-5 has reached an alarming 328, placing it in the red zone and deemed extremely hazardous to health.
Experts suggest that the upcoming rain could further improve air quality, but residents in areas with poor AQI levels should exercise caution. The weather department has also advised people to stay away from open spaces during thunderstorms and lightning, seeking shelter in safe locations.
