
Seattle, April 14: Vote now for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week, recognizing outstanding performances from contests held between April 6 and April 11. Voting will remain open until noon on Wednesday.

Here are this week’s nominees:
– Madison Adair, Rogers Softball: In victories over Bonney Lake and Bethel, she went 3-for-6 with a walk, a double, a triple, a home run, and five RBIs.
– Naomi Benavides, Kentridge Softball: The junior shortstop achieved 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in Tuesday’s win against Mount Rainier.
– Willow Bonnici, Gig Harbor Softball: She hit two doubles in Wednesday’s win over River Ridge, finishing 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs.
– Sydnee Chandler-Trent, Olympia Softball: The Bears’ starter threw a complete-game shutout against Curtis, allowing three hits with no walks and two strikeouts over five innings. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs.
– Kaitlin Christiansen, Fife Softball: The shortstop hit an inside-the-park, three-run home run in Monday’s win over Washington, adding two hits and two RBIs in Tuesday’s victory over Eatonville.
– Kylee Curtis, Auburn Riverside Softball: The sophomore pitcher delivered seven strong innings in Monday’s 2-1 win over Kentridge, allowing five hits and one earned run with no walks and seven strikeouts. She also contributed a single at the plate.
– Laken Elvig, White River Softball: The sophomore pitcher threw two scoreless innings and homered at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs in Monday’s win over Todd Beamer.
– Kate Erickson, Stadium Softball: The leadoff center fielder went 2-for-2 with two doubles in Monday’s win over Auburn, adding a walk, three runs, and three RBIs.
– Mallory Geving, Fife Softball: The senior right-hander pitched four strong innings with one hit and no earned runs, striking out eight in Monday’s win over Washington. She also had two hits and three RBIs in Tuesday’s win over Eatonville.
– Jayda Guadron, Emerald Ridge Softball: The senior catcher drew a walk-off walk and homered in Monday’s 17-16 win over Olympia, going 2-for-3 with two walks and six RBIs.
– Nevaeh Haagen, Timberline Softball: The Blazers’ starter struck out 14 in a complete game on Friday, allowing five hits and three runs (one earned). She also homered at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
– Alexa Hansen, White River Softball: The leadoff catcher homered and tripled in Tuesday’s win over Kentlake, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
– Piper Harrison, Gig Harbor Softball: The junior first baseman went 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs in Wednesday’s win over River Ridge.
– Abby Hoyt, Peninsula Softball: The freshman pitcher achieved a complete-game shutout against rival Gig Harbor on Tuesday, allowing just one hit with no walks and seven strikeouts. She also homered at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
– Jaycee Kemp, Puyallup Softball: The freshman starter struck out 13 in six scoreless innings in Tuesday’s 8-0 win over Bonney Lake, allowing three hits and a walk. She also had four strong innings with 11 strikeouts (three runs, one earned) in Monday’s win over Yelm.
– Bailey Martin, Puyallup Softball: The leadoff center fielder hit two home runs in Monday’s win over Yelm, finishing 2-for-4 with two walks and four RBIs.
– Natalie Medalia, Silas Softball: In wins over Mount Tahoma and Lakes, the shortstop went a combined 4-for-6 with a triple, three RBIs, and seven runs scored.
– Riley Meyers, Sumner Softball: The center fielder homered twice (including a grand slam) with a triple in Tuesday’s win over Spanaway Lake, finishing 4-for-5 with nine RBIs.
– Annabelle Murphy, Graham-Kapowsin Softball: The freshman catcher hit two home runs with a walk and six RBIs in Tuesday’s win over South Kitsap.
– Sierra Murray, Rogers Softball: The sophomore pitcher struck out 18 in a complete-game win over Bonney Lake on Monday, allowing four hits and two runs (none earned) while also hitting a double. She added two scoreless innings (five strikeouts) in Tuesday’s win over Bethel.
– Savanna Newville, Gig Harbor Softball: The senior catcher homered in Wednesday’s win over River Ridge, going 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs, and four RBIs.
– Josie Pendergrass, Stadium Softball: The freshman pitcher threw seven strong innings in Tuesday’s 9-2 win over Kennedy Catholic, allowing seven hits and two runs (none earned) with one walk and 12 strikeouts.
– Brooklyn Pettit, Graham-Kapowsin Softball: The sophomore pitched six stellar innings (two hits, one run, no earned runs, three walks, 11 strikeouts) in Monday’s 8-3 win over Sumner. She added three scoreless frames (no hits, one walk, nine strikeouts) in Tuesday’s win over South Kitsap.
– Alexa Ramirez, Tahoma Softball: The junior threw a five-inning shutout in Monday’s win over Mount Rainier, allowing one hit with no walks and 14 strikeouts against 16 batters faced.
– Kayla Ringenbach, Puyallup Softball: The second baseman hit a grand slam in Tuesday’s win over Bonney Lake, going 1-for-2 with four RBIs.
– Sosephina Sailiai, Federal Way Softball: The leadoff shortstop homered and doubled in Monday’s win over Decatur, going 2-for-5 with a walk, three runs, and five RBIs. In Tuesday’s win over Kent-Meridian, Sailiai went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.
– Kiley Sledge, Franklin Pierce Softball: In a win over Clover Park and a loss to Eatonville last week, the leadoff shortstop went a combined 3-for-6 with two doubles, three walks, seven runs, and three RBIs.
– Tessa Trippy, Auburn Mountainview Softball: The sophomore shortstop led the Lions to two wins (2-0) last week, batting a combined 5-for-8 with a double, two triples, three runs, four RBIs, and no fielding errors.
– Tyler Trujillo, Olympia Softball: The left fielder homered and tripled in Monday’s 17-16 loss to Emerald Ridge, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
– Kalea Yelle, Tahoma Softball: The third baseman homered in Monday’s win over Mount Rainier, finishing 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs, and three RBIs.
