Jayalalithaa and a prominent political figure in the state, announced on Thursday that she will reveal the name of her new political party within a week. She also confirmed that her party will contest in the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters at Chennai Airport, Sasikala stated that preparations for the formal launch of the party are progressing rapidly. The announcement of the party’s name is expected soon.
Sasikala hinted that discussions regarding potential electoral alliances are ongoing, although she did not disclose the names of any prospective partner parties.
She expressed optimism about the coalition talks, stating that they are moving in a positive direction and a favorable decision will be made shortly. Her remarks have sparked renewed activity in the state’s political landscape, as major parties are already gearing up for the 2026 assembly elections.
When asked about the challenges of establishing a new party structure in a limited timeframe before the elections, Sasikala expressed confidence. She noted that the people of Tamil Nadu are well-acquainted with her political journey and public life, suggesting that her party will not face significant difficulties in garnering support.
During her media interaction, Sasikala also paid tribute to senior CPI leader R. Nallakannu, acknowledging his lifelong dedication to the welfare of the poor. She remarked that despite not holding positions like MP or MLA, he remained steadfast in his movement and ideology. Sasikala emphasized that his passing is an irreplaceable loss for both his family and the movement.
