Vivo X500 Series and Vlogging Camera Set to Launch in September

Mumbai, April 14: At a recent media event following the launch of the Vivo X300 Ultra, executives Huang Tao and Han Boxiao discussed the company’s future in imaging innovation. While the flagship model introduced a new camera technology, the discussion also hinted at plans to extend these features to additional devices and new product categories.

Vlogging Camera Teased Ahead of Q3 Launch

Vivo has teased a new device aimed at self-recording, likely the anticipated vlogging camera. The company acknowledged that while rear cameras provide excellent video capabilities, vloggers and live content creators often rely on action cameras or external accessories.

To meet this demand, Vivo is preparing a new solution expected to debut with the next-generation X series in Q3. Early indications suggest a compact, pocket-sized device with built-in stabilization, designed for creators who prefer to film themselves conveniently.

Tentatively named the Vivo X500 series, this lineup is expected to launch in Q3. The previous X300 series was announced in October last year, but the X500 series is now set to arrive earlier. Both the new flagship range and the company’s first vlogging camera could debut around September in China, potentially competing with the DJI Osmo Pocket 4, which is launching globally this week.

Telephoto Extender for S60 Series

In China, Vivo is offering external telephoto extender accessories such as the G2 and G2 Ultra for the Vivo X300 Ultra. These attachments enhance long-distance photography, particularly in challenging environments like concerts or stadiums. Han Boxiao explained that instead of complicating photography, these accessories aim to help users capture distant subjects more effectively.

Vivo is also working on a standardized mounting system for these accessories and is considering similar support for its youth-oriented S series. This could align with the upcoming S60 series in China. However, Huang Tao noted that this decision hinges on whether these devices can maintain consistent image quality with the extender, emphasizing that performance is a crucial factor. The S60 lineup is expected to launch in May or June this year in China.
