After releasing teasers, vivo has officially confirmed that the S50 and S50 Pro mini smartphones will be launched in China on December 15.
The vivo S50 Pro mini is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, achieving over 3 million points on AnTuTu benchmark, which is more than 1 million points higher than previous mid-range flagship models. It also supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS4.1 storage. Earlier reports indicated that the vivo S50 will come with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, marking a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 used in the S30.
Both devices feature a second-generation 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, making it the first in this price range to offer this sensor across the entire S50 series. The S50 Pro mini sports a 6.31-inch 120Hz OLED display, while the standard S50 has a larger 6.59-inch 120Hz OLED screen.
Regarding the camera system, the vivo S50 series is equipped with a Sony IMX882 1/1.95″ sensor paired with a periscope lens. The S50 Pro mini includes a VCS ultra-sensitive bionic large-sensor main camera. The front camera offers a 50MP anti-distortion soft-light selfie lens, along with the same full-focal-length zoom flash found in flagship models. The series also features a clear and natural portrait algorithm that preserves facial details and avoids distortion caused by excessive AI processing, providing realistic texture reproduction.
In terms of design, the vivo S50 Pro mini has a horizontal rear camera module, while the standard S50 features a rectangular lens layout. Both models are built with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and use a new satin lithography finish. The S50 will be available in Space Gray, White, and Purple colours. The S50 Pro mini will also come in Blue, in addition to these colours.
