Vikramshila Bridge Repairs Completed, Heavy Vehicles to Resume Soon: Minister Kumar Shailendra

Patna, June 8: Bihar’s Minister Kumar Shailendra announced the completion of repairs on the Vikramshila Bridge. Speaking to reporters, he explained that a section of the bridge collapsed on the night of May 3, causing significant disruption for local commuters. Following this incident, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary was informed, and he promptly directed top officials to expedite the repairs and address any obstacles.

The repair work commenced on May 16 and has now been completed, alleviating the difficulties faced by the public. It is noteworthy that the bridge was repaired within just 21 days, a commendable effort by the workers involved, who were honored with shawls for their dedication.

Minister Shailendra emphasized the commitment shown by the Chief Minister, who had promised that the bridge would be inaugurated for public use on the seventh of this month. This promise was fulfilled without any delays, warranting praise for the Chief Minister’s proactive approach. The officials involved in the repairs were also recognized for their efforts.

Additionally, he acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting significant projects like the Varanasi corridor and the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s recognition of workers, Shailendra decided to honor those who worked on the bridge repairs, acknowledging their hard work under challenging conditions.

Looking ahead, Minister Shailendra stated that engineers would inspect the bridge and conduct videography to assess its current condition. Any identified issues will be addressed immediately. He assured the public that by November 30, the bridge would be fully opened to heavy vehicles, currently limited to lighter traffic. He reassured everyone that once the bridge meets all safety standards, it will accommodate heavier vehicles, ensuring smooth transit for all.
