Varun Dhawan Faces Acting Criticism, ‘Border-2’ Producer Hits Back at ‘Anti-National’ Trolls

Varun Dhawan Under Fire for Acting in ‘Border-2’

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is currently in the spotlight for his role as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the upcoming film ‘Border-2’. Since the release of the film’s teaser and the first song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, social media users have raised questions about his acting. Many viewers feel that Varun has not moved beyond his previous characters from films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Judwaa 2’.

Producer Nidhi Dutta Responds Strongly to Criticism

Amidst growing criticism online, the film’s producer Nidhi Dutta has come out in support of Varun Dhawan. She reposted a message on social media platform X, condemning those she called “anti-national” who are allegedly paid to tarnish the image of an actor representing the country. She wrote, “Congratulations to all those anti-national people who can pay to bring down an actor playing the role of our country’s representative. This is your film, India! Hope the audience finds these people and shames them.”

Reports suggest that influencers on social media have been offered money to spread negative publicity against the film and Varun Dhawan. Some influencers have shared screenshots of offers and payments, indicating a deliberate attempt to harm the film’s reputation. This has reportedly angered the film’s production team.

Varun Dhawan’s Calm Reply and Film’s Promotion Strategy

Earlier, when questioned about the ongoing criticism of his acting, Varun Dhawan responded with patience and confidence, saying, “This very question made the song a hit, everyone is enjoying it, Rab Di Mehr.”

To avoid any further negative impact on the film’s promotion, it is believed that Diljit Dosanjh has been kept away from promotional events. This is reportedly due to the controversies surrounding Pakistani actress Hania Amir, who is part of the film’s cast and has led to criticism targeting Diljit.

‘Border-2’ is scheduled for release on 23 January. The trailer is yet to be released. Alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh, the film features Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh.
