Uttarakhandis Play Key Role in Delhi’s Growth: CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has highlighted the significant role played by people from Uttarakhand in the development of the national capital. Speaking at an event celebrating Uttarayani Kautik 2026, she said that Uttarakhandis contribute continuously through social service, business, arts, and culture.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Gupta described Uttarakhand as the motherland and Delhi as the workplace, emphasizing that this unity forms their collective strength. She added that cultural programmes like these serve as a powerful and meaningful way to connect every hill family residing in Delhi to their roots.

The event was held at Ras Vihar in Patel Nagar’s Patparganj area and was attended by Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport, Harsh Malhotra. The Chief Minister called Uttarayani a symbol of new beginnings, positive resolutions, and fresh energy, inspiring people to move forward with optimism.

Expressing appreciation for the vibrant atmosphere, Gupta noted that traditional attire, folk music, dance, and public participation clearly reflected the lively cultural spirit of Uttarakhand in the national capital. She further stated that Delhi mirrors India’s diversity, where cultures, traditions, and festivals from across the country are celebrated together. From Bihu and Dandiya to Ganesh Utsav and Uttarayani, Delhi is truly a city of year-round festivities.

Reaffirming the Delhi government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said the administration will continue to advance the capital under the principle of ‘Development as well as Heritage’. She extended her best wishes to those connected with the land of gods, Uttarakhand, on the occasion of Uttarayani and assured that the Delhi government stands firmly with them to collectively build a stronger, more vibrant, and empowered Delhi.
