Chamoli, June 4: The Uttarakhand police and administration are dedicated to serving the pilgrims arriving at Badrinath Temple with unwavering commitment and a strong sense of public service. Visitors to this sacred site have praised the effective arrangements, security measures, and assistance provided by the police, which have made their pilgrimage experience smooth and comfortable.
Inspired by the motto of “Service, Security, and Convenience,” police personnel are tirelessly working to ensure that pilgrims have a safe, organized, and hassle-free experience during their visit. Officials have reiterated their commitment to assist devotees in every situation, ensuring that their spiritual journey remains pleasant and memorable.
Many pilgrims have expressed appreciation for the arrangements made at the temple. A devotee from Dubai remarked, “We have come from Dubai, and the arrangements here are excellent. The security measures and queue management are very well organized. Everything is being managed smoothly. We truly appreciate the efforts of the police officers who are working hard to keep everyone safe. It has been an amazing experience. People from all over India and the world should definitely visit Badrinath.”
Another pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh stated, “We have come to seek blessings at Badrinath, and the arrangements here are very good. Everything is very organized. We would like to thank the Uttarakhand administration for ensuring a comfortable experience for the devotees.”
A third pilgrim shared their experience, noting that during the journey, his wife fell ill, but the security personnel provided immediate help and support. “We are very satisfied with the facilities and assistance provided here,” he said.
Meanwhile, the influx of pilgrims for the Char Dham Yatra has seen unprecedented growth. The pilgrimage to Badrinath has set new records this year, with the number of visitors surpassing eight lakh within just 40 days of the temple’s opening.
In light of the increasing crowd, the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has introduced a contribution-based system for VIP ‘darshan’ to manage the process better and reduce congestion near the temple premises. A special VIP office has been established at the Neelkanth Rest House, located near the local police station, to streamline this process. Visitors wishing for a protocol ‘darshan’ will be required to obtain a pass before entering the temple.
According to the temple committee, this initiative aims to minimize inconvenience for regular pilgrims while ensuring that the visits of dignitaries are safe, organized, and timely. This decision was made based on suggestions received locally and is being implemented under the existing standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee.
Under the revised arrangements, protocol slips will be issued based on written recommendations from the state government, and a contribution of ₹1,100 per person will be charged for protocol ‘darshan.’ An official receipt will be issued by the temple committee.
Located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath Temple, also known as Badrinarayan Temple or Badri Vishal, is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Hinduism. Nestled along the banks of the Alaknanda River in the majestic Himalayas, this temple attracts millions of devotees every year. It remains open for pilgrims from May to November.
The religious significance of Badrinath is immense. It is one of the four sacred ‘Char Dham’ pilgrimage sites and is counted among the 108 ‘Divya Desams’ worshipped by followers of Lord Vishnu. The temple is believed to have been re-established in the 9th century by the philosopher and saint Adi Shankaracharya.
The temple houses a one-meter-tall idol of Lord Vishnu, carved from black stone, which is considered one of the eight ‘swayam vyakta kshetras’ (self-manifested pilgrimage sites). Its colorful architecture, spiritual ambiance, and picturesque surroundings enhance its grandeur. Nearby, the ‘Tapt Kund,’ a natural hot water spring believed to have healing properties, is another major attraction for pilgrims.
Tourists planning their visit between June and September can also witness cultural and religious events like the ‘Badri-Kedar Utsav’ and ‘Mata Murti Ka Mela.’ These events further elevate the spiritual significance of this sacred pilgrimage site in the Himalayas.
