Uttarakhand CM Dhami Criticizes Congress Amid Cabinet Meeting in Banbasa

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami addresses key issues and criticizes the opposition during a cabinet meeting in Banbasa.

Banbasa, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a cabinet meeting in Banbasa on Sunday, marking the first such gathering in the area. Following the meeting, he shared his insights on various significant issues, including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), development in border areas, women’s empowerment, and migration.

During the interview, Dhami emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating remote areas into the mainstream of development. He referenced a previous announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Maan village, which is known as the last village in India. The Prime Minister’s promise was to prioritize the development of such border villages.

Dhami described the Banbasa-Tanakpur region as a significant area, home to various religious sites and the India-Nepal border. He noted the presence of a large number of paramilitary forces in the area and highlighted the importance of local governance. He expressed satisfaction with the cabinet’s decisions made in Banbasa, stating it demonstrates that the government can make crucial decisions from any location within the state.

When asked about the opposition’s criticism regarding the meeting’s location, Dhami defended the approach, asserting that the government should be present in every corner of the state. He acknowledged that many areas had previously been overlooked and reiterated the government’s commitment to decentralization.

The Chief Minister did not shy away from addressing the opposition’s remarks, suggesting that they lack an understanding of Indian culture and values. He criticized their behavior, particularly in reference to comments made about national security figures and past leaders from Uttarakhand, calling it offensive.

Dhami also pointed out the government’s efforts to clear land in Haldwani, where local artisans conducted a purification ritual in response to recent disturbances. He accused the opposition of politicizing these events and claimed they fabricate issues due to a lack of genuine concerns.

On the topic of the UCC, Dhami reiterated the government’s promise made during the 2022 elections, stating that the draft was developed after consultations with various stakeholders. He expressed pride in fulfilling this commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, highlighting the support received from the people of Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister concluded by emphasizing that the government will continue to operate within the framework of law and order, rejecting any attempts to spread chaos.
