Uttar Pradeshs Irrigation Department Launches Awareness Campaign for Developed India Initiative

Lucknow, May 31: In a bid to promote the ‘Developed India’ initiative, the Irrigation and Water Resources Department of Uttar Pradesh is set to launch a state-wide awareness campaign. This campaign will run from June 5 to June 21, as part of efforts by both the central and state governments to turn this goal into a public movement.

Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh has instructed departmental officials to disseminate information about irrigation, water conservation, and various farmer welfare schemes. The campaign will include foot marches, exhibitions, farmer dialogues, and meetings with local representatives.

During a meeting held at the Irrigation Department headquarters, Minister Singh emphasized the importance of reaching the grassroots level with information about government schemes and achievements. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is rapidly progressing towards the goal of a Developed India. It is crucial to ensure that even the most marginalized members of society are informed about these initiatives.

The minister highlighted that the Irrigation and Water Resources Department is continuously working towards agricultural development, water security, and the expansion of irrigation facilities for farmers. Communicating these achievements to the public is a vital responsibility for the officials.

He announced that the awareness campaign would kick off with the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ initiative, running concurrently from June 5 to June 21. This will include foot marches, exhibitions, farmer dialogues, and other outreach activities across the state. Information related to irrigation projects, government tube wells, canal system strengthening, water conservation, groundwater enhancement, and modern irrigation techniques will be shared with farmers and the general public.

State Minister Dinesh Khatik urged officials to effectively present the department’s major projects and infrastructure developments to the public, ensuring that people are directly aware of the department’s role and accomplishments. Meanwhile, State Minister Ramkesh Nishad stressed the need to promote irrigation facilities provided to farmers through lift canal schemes, particularly focusing on ensuring water reaches the farthest ends of the canals, maximizing the benefits of departmental schemes for farmers.

Principal Secretary of Irrigation Anil Garg directed officials to utilize various communication channels effectively to promote departmental achievements. He emphasized the need for widespread awareness of the department’s schemes through farmer meetings, public dialogue programs, and exhibitions at the district level.
