Uttar Pradesh Triumphs Over Mumbai in National Disability T20 Cricket Championship 2026

Bengaluru, May 24: Uttar Pradesh PD (UPDCA) claimed the title of the 5th Elite National Disability T20 Cricket Championship 2026 by defeating the reigning champions, Mumbai, by four wickets in an exhilarating final. The championship was organized under the auspices of the Karnataka State Disability Cricket Association (KSDCA), which is the state unit of the Physically Challenged Cricket Council of India (PCCAI), a founding member of the DCCI.

In the match, Mumbai batted first, scoring 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Ravindra Sante played a remarkable innings, remaining unbeaten with 71 runs, while Vikrant Kenny contributed 54 runs.

For Uttar Pradesh, Mo. Sadiq took 2 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing a target of 172 runs, Uttar Pradesh showcased fearless and aggressive batting. Captain Rahul Singh provided a fantastic start, scoring 31 runs off just 13 balls. Vintu Yadav made a significant contribution with 35 runs, while Deependra Singh anchored the innings with an unbeaten 54 runs, leading Uttar Pradesh to victory at 173 runs for 6 wickets in 18.5 overs.

With this win, Uttar Pradesh has established itself as one of the strongest teams in national disability cricket. The team displayed discipline, determination, and exceptional cricket throughout the tournament.

As part of a special initiative to encourage young talent, three players under the age of 15 participating in the championship were awarded appreciation prizes, each receiving ₹5,000.

Out of the 12 participating teams, eight received incentive prizes of ₹20,000. Additionally, both semifinalist teams were awarded ₹50,000. The runner-up team, Mumbai, received ₹1,25,000, while the champion team, Uttar Pradesh, took home a cash prize of ₹2,50,000.

DCCI Secretary Ravi Chauhan honored the players and wished them well for the future. He praised the dedication and spirit of the disabled cricketers, stating that such championships play a crucial role in promoting inclusive sports in India.

KSDCA President Hemchandra played a vital role in the successful organization of the national championship. Under his leadership and the efforts of the organizing committee, the tournament was conducted smoothly and professionally. Players, officials, and spectators praised the excellent arrangements and hospitality throughout the event.

In the final, Uttar Pradesh’s Vintu Yadav was awarded Player of the Match and received ₹7,777. He was also named the tournament’s best player, earning a prize of ₹25,000. Deependra Singh from Uttar Pradesh was recognized as the best wicketkeeper, receiving ₹10,000, and he also won the best batsman award, which came with another ₹10,000.
