Lucknow, July 15: On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that a state’s future shines bright when its youth are provided equal opportunities and a strong foundation for skill development. He stated that Uttar Pradesh is currently leveraging its vast youth population to transform the ‘demographic dividend’ into economic growth through skill development.
During his address, the Chief Minister criticized previous state governments before 2017, highlighting that youth faced crises in education, employment, security, and identity during that period. In contrast, he noted that Uttar Pradesh has now become a hub for investment, employment, and skill development. He asserted that the state boasts the largest youth workforce in the country and even the world. The government is working to connect this youthful energy with skill development to elevate the state’s economy, and positive results are already evident.
He pointed out that prior to 2017, the youth felt insecure about their futures. The education system was in disarray, effective skill development programs were lacking, and job opportunities were limited. He accused the previous administrations of lacking transparency in government jobs, leading to controversies in recruitment processes that adversely affected the youth’s future. Yogi stated that the issue was not specific to Uttar Pradesh but stemmed from the operational style and mindset of the then-governments.
He remarked that a government unable to provide employment to youth, forcing artisans to migrate, and neglecting farmers cannot meet the public’s expectations. The Chief Minister noted that improved law and order has fostered a conducive environment for investment, boosting the confidence of major investors. He explained that a robust security framework and an active MSME sector serve as the foundation for investment. Previously, insecurity deterred investments and affected small industries, whereas Uttar Pradesh is now emerging as a key center for investment and industrial growth.
He highlighted that today, Banarasi sarees are gaining global recognition, whereas previously, Varanasi was known for different reasons. Similarly, Azamgarh’s image has transformed, establishing a new environment of development and security across various sectors in the state. The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government’s goal is to empower youth with skills, employment, and dignified opportunities, positioning Uttar Pradesh as the country’s largest economic powerhouse.
