
New Delhi, August 19: The Uttar Pradesh government hosted the Uttar Pradesh-Japan Investment Conference 2026 at the Taj Palace in New Delhi on Wednesday. The event showcased the investment potential and evolving industrial landscape of the state to over 200 CEOs, managing directors, country heads, and senior industry representatives from Japan. The primary goal of the conference was to elevate economic, industrial, and technological cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan while attracting Japanese companies to invest in the state.
Attendees included Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Railways, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Uttar Pradesh’s Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, among other senior officials and industry leaders. Speakers highlighted the developmental strides made in Uttar Pradesh over recent years, emphasizing improved law and order, industrial expansion, robust infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies. They noted that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a key center for economic growth in the country, with increasing investment opportunities for global investors.
Chief Minister Yogi welcomed the Japanese delegation, stating that the state has developed a comprehensive network of expressways, airports, dedicated freight corridors, industrial parks, and multimodal connectivity. These projects have laid the groundwork for enhanced connectivity and logistics facilities for industries in the state. He urged Japanese companies to become partners in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial development. A major highlight of the conference was the announcement of a ‘Japanese City’ to be developed in Sector 5A of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, covering approximately 500 acres. This project aims to create a dedicated industrial, commercial, and residential ecosystem tailored to the needs of Japanese industries, businesses, and citizens.
The Chief Minister invited Japanese investors to consider this project and other investment opportunities across Uttar Pradesh. He assured that the state government is committed to providing essential infrastructure, improved connectivity, skilled human resources, and a streamlined approval process for investors. During the conference, a virtual groundbreaking ceremony was held for two major industrial projects to be established in the Yamuna Authority area. The first project is a manufacturing unit by Escorts Kubota Limited, which has been allocated 154 acres of land in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Authority. With an investment of approximately ₹2,029 crores, this project is expected to generate around 4,000 job opportunities and produce about 60,000 tractors annually.
Additionally, various parts and components related to tractors and agricultural machinery will also be manufactured, strengthening the agricultural equipment and engineering manufacturing sector in Uttar Pradesh. The second significant project is associated with the Spark Minda Group, which has been allocated land in Sector 10 and Sector 24 of the Yamuna Authority. With an investment of around ₹1,166 crores, this project is expected to create approximately 6,440 job opportunities and produce around 2 million units of electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers, and other automotive electronic products annually. This investment is anticipated to provide a new impetus to the automobile and electronics manufacturing sectors in Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the Uttar Pradesh government is prioritizing sectors such as green hydrogen, solar energy, electronics, medical devices, automobiles, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing for Japanese investors. The government’s objective is to create new job opportunities and enhance manufacturing capacity through modern technology and investments from global companies.
He stated that special attention is being given to providing world-class infrastructure, trained human resources, and a quick approval system for industries in Uttar Pradesh. The conference was attended by various senior officials and industry representatives, including Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar, Yamuna Authority Chairman Alok Kumar, CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh, and Additional CEO and Nodal Officer for the Investment Cell Shailendra Kumar Bhatia.
Through this conference, Uttar Pradesh presented its new industrial capabilities, improved connectivity, and investment-friendly environment to Japanese companies. The groundbreaking of major industrial projects and the announcement of the ‘Japanese City’ signal that the state is moving towards strengthening its role as a key center for global manufacturing and industrial investment in the future.
