
Washington, April 10: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio may visit India next month. This indication came after a positive meeting with India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the White House. The discussions highlighted cooperation in defense, trade, and critical technologies between the two nations.
Sergio Gore, the US Ambassador to India, shared this information via a post on the social media platform X. He noted that the main focus of the talks was to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as trade, critical minerals, defense collaboration, and key issues related to the Quad. He stated, “Secretary Rubio is excited about his upcoming visit to India next month.”
The meeting with Rubio was a significant highlight of Vikram Misri’s visit to Washington, showcasing the strengthening strategic partnership between India and the United States.
During this visit, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau also met with Vikram Misri. According to US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, both sides reiterated the strong partnership between India and the US and discussed global and regional issues, including those concerning the Persian Gulf.
Additionally, Vikram Misri engaged in discussions with Under Secretary for Political Affairs Alison Hooker. They reviewed the progress of the bilateral agenda following the Foreign Office Consultations held last December.
Economic and technological cooperation was also a key aspect of this visit. Vikram Misri met with Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, where they agreed to enhance collaboration in areas such as AI, critical minerals, and Pax Silica.
Throughout his visit, Vikram Misri also interacted with think tanks and strategic experts in Washington. These discussions delved into the future of India-US relations, global challenges, and the evolving geopolitical landscape.
