Washington, July 22: The US military conducted military strikes against Iran for the 11th consecutive night on Tuesday at 8:15 PM local time. This information was shared by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on the social media platform X.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted Iran’s military operation centers, maritime military capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure. The US claims that the purpose of these attacks is to weaken Iran’s ability to pose a threat to commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM asserted that in the past three months, Iran has attacked over 30 commercial ships navigating this international maritime route. The US states that these attacks have endangered the lives of hundreds of sailors and disrupted free movement at sea.
Despite these incidents, the US maintains that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial vessels. CENTCOM reported that since early May, its forces have assisted in the safe passage of approximately 900 commercial ships through this maritime route, carrying around 450 million barrels of crude oil.
Earlier on Tuesday, CENTCOM had also announced the initiation of strikes against Iranian military bases for the 11th consecutive night. The US asserts that these actions aim to mitigate threats posed by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran claimed to have launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases, resources, and other military structures located in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated through its official news outlet, Sepah News, that its aerospace forces targeted US air defense systems, radar centers, communication networks, and other military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. Attacks were also reported on US military bases in Jordan.
The IRGC indicated that these actions were a response to recent US strikes, asserting that the goal is to pave the way for larger missile and drone operations against US military installations in the region.
Additionally, the Iranian military announced that it had targeted several US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, including major installations such as Camp Arifjan, Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base, and Sheikh Isa Air Base.
