New Delhi, August 4: The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that it has intensified its blockade against Iran. CENTCOM has redirected several commercial vessels and conducted inspections on multiple ships, with some being rendered inactive.
This statement follows remarks from President Donald Trump, who described Iran’s leadership as duplicitous. Trump asserted that regardless of Iran’s claims, it is clear that the U.S. maintains control over the Hormuz Strait. He emphasized that as long as the U.S. does not permit it, Iran will not receive any supplies.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, CENTCOM stated, “The U.S. military is continuously and rigorously enforcing the blockade against Iran. As of August 3, CENTCOM has redirected 44 commercial vessels, rendered two inactive, and boarded two ships for inspection.”
Trump further criticized the Iranian leadership, stating they beg for negotiations with the U.S. but then publicly claim that no discussions are taking place. He noted that even regarding the Hormuz Strait, they make grandiose claims.
In a post on ‘Truth Social’, Trump remarked, “Iran’s leadership makes astonishingly contradictory statements. They demand meetings, with some even saying they are ‘begging’ for them. Negotiations begin, and multiple rounds are scheduled, yet they proudly declare that no discussions are happening on any issue, claiming they are only speaking with Oman.”
Trump reiterated that their assertions of control over the Hormuz Strait are unfounded, as the U.S. Navy already has full dominance in the area, and the blockade, often referred to as America’s ‘steel wall,’ is firmly in place.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei dismissed Trump’s claims about ‘indirect talks’ with the U.S. In a conversation with reporters, Baghaei stated, “We have no plans to welcome any representatives or send anyone for negotiations. Currently, there are no discussions ongoing with the U.S.”
