Indian Youth Congress Protesters Detained by Delhi Police Amid Traffic Advisory

Indian Youth Congress members were detained by Delhi police during a protest, prompting a traffic advisory in the city.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Early on Friday morning, around 4 AM, Delhi police detained members of the Indian Youth Congress who were protesting outside the Parliament Street police station. Congress leader B.V. Srinivasan criticized the police for their actions, claiming that they were avoiding filing FIRs due to fear. He highlighted the mistreatment of women protesters, including Athira and Ritu, and alleged that they were assaulted inside the police station.

Uday Bhanu Chib, the head of the Indian Youth Congress, condemned the police for attacking peaceful demonstrators. He called for FIRs against the officers involved, asserting that the police’s actions indicated a compromise with the government, which he accused of suppressing the voices of the youth and students.

In response to the protest, security has been heightened at Jantar Mantar. Ahead of the “Lahra Do Tiranga” protest organized by Abhijit Dipke, security forces were deployed around Central Park in Connaught Place.

The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on October 16, warning of potential traffic disruptions due to planned gatherings at Central Park. Traffic may be affected from 3 PM onwards, with diversions implemented as necessary. Roads likely to be impacted include Parliament Street, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, and Minto Road, among others.

Travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time, utilize public transport when possible, and follow the instructions of traffic personnel on-site. Additionally, a truck accident on the Ring Road between Sarai Kale Khan and ITO has caused further traffic issues, with recovery operations expected to take place after 10 AM.
