Aligarh, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Ifran Hussain, the chief mufti of Aligarh, has called upon the community to prioritize peace and communal harmony. He emphasized the importance of avoiding participation in events or protests that could disrupt brotherhood and lead to law and order issues. Hussain clarified that the struggle for rights and the demand for justice are constitutional rights, provided they are pursued peacefully.
His remarks came in response to Chief Imam Dr. Umair Ilyasi’s appeal for Muslims to refrain from attending programs and protests that threaten public order and social cohesion. While acknowledging the need to maintain peace, Hussain asserted that fighting for one’s rights within constitutional limits is entirely justified. He noted that protests occurring in various regions often target the government, suggesting that some demonstrations are politically motivated and mislead participants.
Hussain accused certain protesters of presenting themselves as victims, despite having previously engaged in unjust actions. He urged that if the government is taking steps to eliminate injustice and promote equality, the motives behind opposing such efforts must also be scrutinized. He advised demonstrators to reflect on their conduct and consider how well they adhere to the principles of justice, honesty, peace, and equality.
Reiterating his support for the fight for rights and demonstrations, Hussain stressed that the aim of any movement should not compromise social harmony or disrupt peace. He encouraged individuals to contemplate the goals of protests and the potential consequences of their actions, highlighting the necessity of maintaining both justice and communal brotherhood alongside demands for equality.
