Home Ministry Orders Transfers of Two Senior IPS Officers in AGMUT Cadre

The Home Ministry has issued orders for the transfer of two senior IPS officers within the AGMUT cadre, impacting security in Arunachal Pradesh and Delhi.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Home Ministry has announced the transfer and posting orders for two senior IPS officers in the AGMUT cadre, effective immediately. The orders were issued on November 3 by Director (S) Anish Muraleedharan. According to the ministry, these postings have been made with the approval of the competent authority and will remain in effect until further notice.

Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, an IPS officer of the 1995 batch and previously the Director General of Police (DGP) for Arunachal Pradesh, has been reassigned to Delhi. Jamwal is recognized for his significant contributions to law enforcement in Arunachal Pradesh, and there is considerable speculation regarding his new role in the capital.

Taking his place in Arunachal Pradesh is Rajesh Kumar, also an IPS officer from the 1995 batch. Kumar has returned from a central deputation where he held key responsibilities. He is now tasked with leading the police force in the sensitive border state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The AGMUT cadre includes officers from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and various Union Territories. Transfers within this cadre occur frequently between the central government and states. The Home Ministry has also sent copies of this order to the Chief Secretaries of Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Mizoram, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep.

This reshuffle is viewed as crucial for maintaining administrative balance and addressing security challenges. The appointment of a new DGP in a sensitive state like Arunachal Pradesh is expected to enhance policing efforts.
