Escalating Violence in Yemen Claims Lives in Lahij and Taiz Provinces
Recent clashes in Yemens Lahij and Taiz provinces have resulted in numerous casualties amid escalating violence.

Sana, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Fighting and airstrikes have intensified in Yemen, particularly in the southern port city of Aden, as clashes erupted on the critical frontlines. Local military officials and Houthi media reported multiple casualties in the southern Lahij and southwestern Taiz provinces on Tuesday.
A Yemeni military officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, informed that two ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels struck a public market in government-controlled Lahij province. This attack resulted in one death and left ten others injured.
Meanwhile, Houthi-operated Al-Masirah TV claimed that airstrikes targeted a plastic sandal factory located north of Taiz city. According to the channel, three people were killed and eight others wounded in this incident. Al-Masirah TV attributed the attack to Saudi Arabian fighter jets and noted that civil defense teams were working to extinguish the fire at the site.
Additionally, a report from the Xinhua news agency revealed that another airstrike in the southern district of Ash-Shamayatayn in Taiz resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a woman, with five others sustaining injuries.
These assaults come amid escalating conflict on the Taiz-Lahij front, where Houthi fighters have advanced from the mountainous Al-Maqatirah area towards the Tur al-Baha district, which is under government control and crucial for routes leading to Aden.
Supported by a Saudi-led coalition, government forces are striving to halt the Houthi advance. Concurrently, ground battles and airstrikes have surged across various regions in Yemen. The Houthi group has also been launching missile and drone attacks on government-controlled territories and inside Saudi Arabia.
However, on Tuesday, the Houthi group denied involvement in any attacks on Saudi Arabia, dismissing accusations of targeting the holy city of Mecca. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated on the social media platform X, “Our forces did not conduct any military operations towards Saudi territory today.”
The conflict in Yemen has persisted since late 2014 when Houthi rebels seized control of the capital, Sana, and large parts of northern Yemen. In 2015, a Saudi-led coalition intervened militarily to support the internationally recognized Yemeni government. Since then, the country has faced ongoing warfare, political instability, and a humanitarian crisis.
