Lucknow, August 25: Udayveer Singh, a leader of the Samajwadi Party, has targeted the BJP while responding to various issues, including a statement from CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
In a conversation regarding a respectable agreement from Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Singh stated, “The Samajwadi Party rises above respect and disrespect. We ensure that all our comrades are honored. Decisions will be made according to the national leadership of both parties.”
He questioned the BJP’s focus on divisive issues, saying, “Why do they raise topics like mental Naxalism, Vande Mataram, Hindu-Muslim relations, and fish? It’s because they want to divert attention from questions about where the last ten budgets went, the corruption on roads, and why expressways are breaking down daily. Unemployed youth are facing police brutality on the streets. Adequate schools and drinking water facilities for students are lacking. Such issues are raised to evade accountability.”
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about Manusmriti, Singh noted, “The Shankaracharya is knowledgeable about Hinduism, while Rahul Gandhi is a political figure. Each has their own way of thinking. Political figures consider equality, rights, and justice within the constitutional framework, while religious figures think according to religious texts. Both have their own understanding.”
Regarding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s statement, Singh mentioned, “There are legal issues involved. If the government wanted to resolve them, it could have. Our party has already proposed a tamper-proof ID to prevent easy alterations, copies, or forgeries. However, due to the controversial decisions and image of the Election Commission, public trust in voters has significantly diminished. This poses a danger to democracy. The credibility of the election body is crucial, as fair elections will restore public faith in both the institution and the democratic process.”
On the cabinet meeting, he remarked, “We will respond based on the announcements made during the meeting, assessing what is good and what is not. We do not expect anything positive from this government. We will provide feedback only after seeing what changes have been made.”
Regarding the Allahabad High Court’s decision on hijab, Singh stated, “Only the Supreme Court can address the high court’s ruling. Everyone respects the court, and all must abide by its decisions.”
