New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the license of Paradise Distilleries Private Limited for 15 days following the discovery of serious irregularities during an inspection of their facility.
According to a statement from FSSAI, the suspension is effective immediately. The food business operator has been instructed to cease all food-related activities during this period and rectify the identified issues within the stipulated time frame.
The inspection revealed that expired flavors and colors were being used in the alcohol production process, potentially compromising the quality and safety of the final product. The cleanliness and sanitation conditions at the facility were also found to be inadequate. Inspectors noted that the final mixing tank was not properly sealed, and there was grease and dust accumulation on the bottle-cleaning machine. Additionally, broken glass pieces were discovered, and there was no effective policy for glass management.
FSSAI further stated that the company failed to make necessary changes to product labels as per notices issued by the Central Licensing Authority and did not provide satisfactory responses regarding these discrepancies.
The inspection uncovered multiple structural and operational deficiencies, including poorly fitted doors, inadequate lighting, peeling paint and plaster on the walls, unsanitary packing arrangements, improper storage, ineffective pest control, and poor personal hygiene practices among staff handling food materials.
Moreover, the facility did not comply with regulations concerning medical examinations and vaccination records, the use of protective clothing, personal cleanliness, cleaning schedules, equipment maintenance records, pest control records, customer complaint resolution systems, and regular food safety system audits.
Earlier on the same day, FSSAI initiated three separate adjudication cases against Nestlé India for alleged regulatory violations related to its infant nutrition products, NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and Lactogen Pro 1. A notice shared on social media indicated that objections had been raised regarding certain claims made in promotional materials for products available on e-commerce platforms.
In response, a spokesperson for Nestlé India stated that all company products comply with applicable regulations. The spokesperson added, “NAN Excella Pro and Lactogen Pro products and their labels have been approved by FSSAI’s expert committee. We have submitted a detailed clarification to the authorities in response to the notice. The information provided on the labels is factual and supported by scientific literature.”
