Patna, August 25: Reactions have poured in from various leaders following the Allahabad High Court’s decision to classify the hijab as separate from school uniforms. Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi expressed his views, stating, “This is the right decision. The Allahabad High Court’s ruling is correct. Why should religious attire be worn in schools? Why should one wear a hijab? Therefore, this is absolutely the right decision. Whatever the court decides, the Uttar Pradesh government will comply and implement it. But the decision is indeed correct.”
Sarawagi further emphasized, “Whether it is the Bihar government or the central government under Narendra Modi’s leadership, both take the issues concerning students and youth very seriously. Continuous efforts are being made in the state regarding education. A portal has been created for students, and stringent laws have been enacted. The government is consistently engaging with students regarding their legitimate demands. Students are the future of the state and the country; our government is for their benefit.”
On the other hand, Ashutosh Verma, a leader from the Samajwadi Party, commented on the hijab ruling, saying, “There are two points. We will respect whatever the honorable Supreme Court decides, but what is the problem with wearing a hijab with school uniforms? If someone wears a hijab as part of their faith, there should be no issue. I believe the Supreme Court should engage in discussions with everyone on this matter. If actions are being taken to appease state governments, we will oppose that.”
Congress leader Surendra Rajput also weighed in on the issue, stating, “There is a uniform law across the country, and everyone has the freedom to maintain religious harmony. However, school uniforms fall under the regulations of the school administration. Therefore, there should be no violation of these rules to ensure uniformity among all students. Additionally, no particular religion should be harmed. The school administration and district administration should make appropriate arrangements.”
