According to police, on October 6, 2025, a married woman from Kishanpol lodged a complaint stating that an unknown person had created multiple fake Instagram IDs in different names and was sharing obscene, AI-edited images and videos to defame her online.

Taking the matter seriously, Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal directed Additional SP (City) Umesh Ojha and Circle Officer (East) Chhagan Purohit to supervise the investigation under the leadership of Surajpol SHO Ratan Singh Chauhan. A special team was formed to identify and arrest the accused.

Using technical assistance, the police traced and arrested the accused, Sadiq (28), son of late Iqbal, a resident of Saidupur Lashkariganj, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), from Udaipur. The mobile phone used in the crime was also seized.

During interrogation, Sadiq confessed that he had acted out of anger after a woman he knew refused his friendship. In retaliation, he used AI tools to edit her photos and videos, created fake Instagram accounts, and shared the content to defame her.

The accused was produced before the court after interrogation and has been sent to judicial custody.
