PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen Reach Finals at Hylo Open in Saarbrücken

PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen advance to finals at the Hylo Open, boosting Indias hopes for two titles in Germany.

Saarbrücken, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : India showcased remarkable talent at the Hylo Open Super 500 tournament held in Saarbrücken, Germany, on October 31. Both PV Sindhu in women’s singles and Lakshya Sen in men’s singles have secured their spots in the finals, raising hopes for two titles for the country.

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, continued her impressive form by defeating her compatriot Anmol Kharb in straight games during the women’s singles semifinals. This victory marks her second consecutive final appearance on the BWF World Tour. She won the match 21-13, 21-16 in just 38 minutes, making it the first time two Indian players faced each other at this level. Remarkably, Sindhu has not lost a single game throughout the tournament and will face Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the final.

Last week, at the French Open, Sindhu displayed exceptional skill but fell short, losing to Korea’s world number one An Se-young with scores of 21-16, 11-21, 12-21.

Lakshya Sen also secured his final berth by defeating France’s sixth seed, Toma Junior Popov, in the men’s singles semifinals. The match lasted 41 minutes, ending with a score of 21-17, 21-13, improving Sen’s head-to-head record against Popov to 3-2.

This marks Sen’s second final of the season; he was previously the runner-up at the All England Open earlier this year. In the final, he will compete against Denmark’s Mathias Sogaard. Notably, both Sindhu and Sen reached the finals of the same tournament at the 2024 Syed Modi India International.
