U.S. Conducts Secret Strikes on Irans Qeshm Island Amid Rising Tensions
U.S. military tensions escalate as secret airstrikes hit Irans Qeshm Island, with Iran claiming the capture of U.S. drones.

Qeshm Island, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Tensions between the United States and Iran are escalating following reports of military activity around Qeshm Island, a strategically significant location in the Strait of Hormuz. According to both American and Iranian media, airstrikes commenced late Monday night.
Al Jazeera reported that residents on Qeshm Island heard five explosions and observed two aircraft flying overhead. Additional explosions were also reported near Bandar Lengeh, close to the Strait of Hormuz, with eyewitnesses suggesting these blasts originated from the sea. In the past, similar sounds have been linked to military operations, often attributed to actions taken by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against vessels accused of unauthorized passage through the strait.
U.S. media outlets have claimed that American forces conducted covert military strikes on Qeshm Island in recent weeks. Iranian state news agency IRNA announced that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had captured two more U.S. drones, bringing the total to four.
The Wall Street Journal cited unnamed U.S. officials who indicated that the explosions on Qeshm Island were part of these limited military operations. Notably, this escalation occurred while President Donald Trump was discussing potential diplomatic agreements with Iran.
According to IRNA, the IRGC used electronic warfare systems to take control of the two U.S. drones above Qeshm Island and south of Hormuz, asserting that the drones were safely landed rather than shot down. Iranian officials stated that these drones were engaged in surveillance and intelligence gathering in the region. The IRGC claimed that by analyzing the equipment and data from the drones, they could gain insights into U.S. military activities.
A U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal that the administration is continually addressing threats to American troops in the area. This series of events unfolds against the backdrop of President Trump’s comments downplaying the likelihood of renewed conflict with Iran ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, while also signaling potential diplomatic openings.
Qeshm Island, located off Iran’s southern coast and near the critical Strait of Hormuz, holds significant strategic importance. A substantial portion of the world’s oil and gas trade passes through this waterway, making the increase in military activities by both the U.S. and Iran a concern for regional security and global energy supplies.
