PM Modi Shares Wisdom on Discipline and Success from Mahabharata

Prime Minister Modi highlights the importance of self-discipline and truth for achieving success, sharing a Sanskrit verse from the Mahabharata.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform X on November 3 to share a profound Sanskrit verse. He emphasized the significance of self-control in both speech and thought for attaining greatness.

The verse, “यस्य वाङ्मनसी स्यातां सम्यक् प्रणिहिते सदा. तपस्त्यागश्च सत्यं च स वै सर्वमवाप्नुयात्॥,” translates to highlight that a person whose speech and mind are consistently disciplined and focused, enriched by asceticism, sacrifice, and truth, will surely achieve all of life’s finest accomplishments.

This quote is drawn from the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata and is also referenced in collections like the ‘Geetarth Sangrah’ published by Gita Press. It conveys that a person who maintains control over their speech and mind, and embodies sacrifice and truthfulness, can attain anything in the world.

The message underscores the importance of speaking with restraint, avoiding harsh words, and always communicating in a beneficial and pleasant manner. It advocates for redirecting a wandering mind towards positive pursuits, emphasizing the need for mental purity where one’s thoughts align with their words.

The verse also teaches that true strength and success stem from inner discipline rather than external resources. For those who have aligned their mind, speech, and actions with the principles of truth and asceticism, nothing in the world remains unattainable.
