Ghaziabad, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Ghaziabad police apprehended two individuals wanted in connection with a POCSO case during a shootout late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 10:50 PM in the Khanpur forest area when the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team during a routine check. In the exchange, 20-year-old Gulzar and 22-year-old Ehsan were shot in the legs and subsequently hospitalized for treatment.
Authorities recovered two firearms, ammunition, and a stolen scooter from the suspects. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shri Ram Kishan, revealed that a case involving the molestation and rape of two minor girls was registered on September 4 at the Tronica City police station. Gulzar and Ehsan were named as wanted suspects in this case.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint near the Khanpur forest. The suspects attempted to flee on a scooter when they were signaled to stop, firing at the police as they escaped. The police returned fire, injuring both men, who were later found to be in possession of a firearm and cartridges, along with the stolen scooter.
This encounter follows a previous incident on August 30 in the Loni area of Ghaziabad, where a police team engaged in a shootout with suspects linked to chain snatching. One suspect was injured, while another managed to escape. Police seized a firearm, cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, and cash during that operation.
The investigation into these incidents continues as authorities work to ensure public safety.
