Two Arrested for Snatching ₹50,000 from Woman in Barakat Nagar

Jaipur police have arrested two men involved in snatching a bundle of ₹50,000 from a woman in Barakat Nagar. The incident occurred when the woman, who had come for shopping, accidentally dropped the cash bundle on the road. Within moments, two men on a motorcycle stopped, took the money, and fled the scene after pushing the woman.

According to Bajaj Nagar police, over 300 CCTV cameras were reviewed to track the suspects. The police successfully identified and arrested the accused, recovering ₹20,000 of the stolen amount. The motorcycle used in the crime was also seized.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Sanjeev Nain said the arrested men, Lokesh alias Chhotu (21) and Alok Umarwala (18), are residents of Mahesh Nagar. Both are addicted to drugs and have a history of committing crimes using stolen motorcycles. They have been previously imprisoned multiple times.

The investigation detailed the sequence of events: The woman and her daughter were shopping for a wedding when the cash, bundled in ₹500 notes, fell from the woman’s jacket while crossing the street. Unaware of the loss, they proceeded ahead. The two youths on the motorcycle stopped, one got down, and quickly grabbed the money. Despite the woman’s attempt to chase them, the suspects pushed her and escaped.

Notably, no bystanders in the crowded market came forward to assist the victim. The woman, a resident of Baran district, was shopping in Jaipur for her daughter’s wedding when this unfortunate incident took place.
