Vadodara, March 20: In a significant move to enhance airport security, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducted a large-scale mock drill at Vadodara Airport.
This multi-agency exercise was designed to test preparedness against Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats.
During the drill, a simulated radiological emergency scenario was created, showcasing a spill of radioactive material (UN-2910) at the cargo complex. This scenario was aimed at assessing how different agencies could collaborate for immediate and effective action in such a serious situation.
The primary goal of this exercise was to strengthen coordination, readiness, and joint response mechanisms among all involved agencies. Led by the CISF, the mock drill ensured that there would be no hindrance during a real emergency, allowing all agencies to act swiftly and in unison.
Throughout the exercise, security teams arrived on-site to control the situation, secure the area, and mitigate potential threats. It was also observed how effective coordination could avert major hazards.
At the conclusion of the mock drill, a detailed review meeting was held to analyze the entire operation and discuss areas for improvement. This will aid in ensuring even better preparedness in the future.
The CISF shared information about this successful mock drill through an official post on X, stating, “A multi-agency mock exercise on CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) threats was conducted at Vadodara Airport, simulating a radiological emergency due to the spread of radioactive material (UN-2910).”
