TVK Urges Peaceful Counting Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

Chennai, May 2: The Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK) has formally requested the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, Archana Patnaik, to ensure a peaceful counting process for the upcoming assembly elections.

In a letter submitted by TVK’s General Secretary, Adhav Arjun, the party emphasized the need for a significant deployment of security personnel at sensitive locations prior to the vote counting. The letter stresses that measures should be taken to prevent any untoward incidents during the counting process, ensuring that it proceeds smoothly.

It calls for an increase in security forces across the state during the counting period, along with enhanced security arrangements outside all counting venues. The request also includes the establishment of ‘security zones’ around these sites to facilitate a peaceful voting process.

Voting for the 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu was conducted in a single phase. All eyes are now on May 4, when the results will be announced, determining the future political landscape of the state.

To form a government, a political party needs to secure at least 118 out of the 234 seats. Analysts suggest that the primary contest this time will be between the DMK and AIADMK.

Actor Vijay’s party, TVK, is contesting the elections independently this time. The party has made significant efforts to sway the political situation in its favor, fielding candidates across various constituencies. Additionally, TVK has made several appealing promises in its manifesto to attract public support.
