Trumps Claims: Irans Military Power Severely Weakened After Recent Strikes

Washington, March 8: President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran’s military capabilities have been nearly obliterated following a week of ongoing military conflict. He stated that U.S. and Israeli attacks have inflicted significant damage on Iran’s navy, air force, and missile capabilities. However, he clarified that the U.S. is not in a hurry to negotiate with Tehran, emphasizing that Washington possesses “negotiating leverage.”

During a conversation with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump noted that Iran’s military suffered a major blow early in the conflict. The U.S. and Israel initiated a joint military operation against Iran on February 28.

Trump claimed that U.S. strikes have almost completely destroyed Iran’s navy, stating, “We have decimated their navy, sinking 44 ships. Their air force has also been eradicated, with every aircraft destroyed.”

He further indicated that American attacks have severely damaged Iran’s missile capabilities and launching systems, with approximately 70% of rocket launchers destroyed. Trump pointed out that these systems are costly and challenging to acquire.

According to Trump, the destruction of launchers and production capacity has significantly diminished Iran’s ability to retaliate. He mentioned that in the initial two days of the conflict, Iran was launching numerous attacks, but this has now dwindled to just 9%. The President stated that Iran’s military is on the verge of collapse, declaring, “Their military is nearly finished.”

However, Trump refrained from specifying how long the conflict might last, only stating that military action will continue as long as necessary. He remarked, “I don’t know; it will last as long as it takes.”

Trump also suggested that the conflict has impacted Iran’s leadership structure. He mentioned, “We first eliminated the leadership, then the second tier. Now, there are people in charge whom no one knows.”

Despite the military pressure, Trump stated that the U.S. is not currently seeking a diplomatic agreement, asserting that America has significant negotiating leverage. He said, “We have a lot of negotiating leverage, perhaps the most. They would like to make a deal, but we are not looking for one right now.”

Additionally, Trump claimed that Iran recently apologized to neighboring Middle Eastern countries it had previously attacked, which he interpreted as a sign of Iran retreating. He stated, “They apologized to those Middle Eastern countries they attacked. This is akin to surrender.”

In the meantime, Trump dismissed allegations that U.S. strikes targeted a girls’ school in Iran at the conflict’s onset, asserting that the information he has indicates the attack originated from Iran.

When asked if Russia is assisting Iran, Trump replied, “No, I have no information on that.”

He also clarified that the U.S. would not allow Kurdish fighters to participate in the conflict, even if they are willing. He stated, “We are very good friends with the Kurds, but we don’t want to complicate this war. I don’t want the Kurds involved.”

When questioned about potential changes to Iran’s geographical or political structure post-war, Trump replied, “It is possible that the country will not look the same as it does now.”

He emphasized that the goal of the entire military operation is to permanently weaken Iran’s capabilities, concluding, “When this is all over, the world will be a much safer place.”
